Cufflinks Make Great Personalised Gifts

The history of cufflinks stretches all the way back to the middle-ages, a surprising fact to many people. When first introduced to the fashionable set they were known as cuff strings. During the 17th century they evoked images of social prestige and affluence and by the 19th century cufflinks were a standard item of any gentleman’s attire.

As cufflinks became increasingly fashionable, manufacturing techniques improved and many more designs appeared on the market. Cufflinks were cheaper to produce and so prices dropped and they became more accessible to the masses. Whereas once cufflinks were only affordable if you were wealthy, now they were in demand and available to everyone.

There are a number of different materials used in the production of cufflinks including silver and gold, mother of pearl, mosaics, precious stones and enamel. More unusual designs have incorporated platinum, wood and fabric into the cufflinks for a totally unique look. Cufflinks with jewels embedded in them are a particularly popular design choice.

Some particular occupations have their own designs for cufflinks with the company emblem or initial to denote their line of work. Cufflinks can be found in a variety of sizes, shapes and colours and there are designs to suit everyones tastes, they are also popular as heirlooms engraved with the family crest and passed down through the family.

Whilst cufflinks are normally seen as an item for males there was a time during the 20th century when women wore them for their decoration and as fashion items, these were referred to as arm candy or wrist jewellery. Around this time sales of cufflinks actually dropped as more shirts were produced with buttons to fasten the cuffs, therefore eliminating the demand for cufflinks.

The most familiar kind of men’s cufflinks available today are made from sterling silver, a material that produces a stunning and elegant look silver also provides the perfect background for engraving purposes and allows for some very intricate designs. Sterling silver can be finished in all kinds of shapes and sizes to suit all tastes and these days even photographs can be engraved on to cufflinks, making them the ideal functional and exquisite gift to present to anyone.

Personalised cufflinks are a great choice for all sorts of occasions, they can be presented as a wedding gift to the groom and male members of a bridal party, or individually engraved photo cufflinks can make the perfect gift for a 21st birthday. Cufflinks are seen as a glamouress gift as they are not generally viewed as every day wear and only brought out on special occasions. A well-thought out engraving can soon turn the simplest of cufflinks into a unique and cherished gift.

Cufflinks don’t only make good gifts for weddings and birthdays however, personalized cufflinks will be appreciated by anyone and are a great choice if you aren’t sure what to buy that special person in your life. Another opportunity to give this kind of jewellery is at a retirement party, cufflinks are quite traditional and the older generation are likely to still wear them and so giving a quality pair that you have had engraved with a special message is sure to put a smile on their face.

To some people cufflinks may be seen as a trivial and unnecessary accessory, especially as most shirts produced these days are equipped with buttons. However, cufflinks exude a sense of style and, whether true or not, an assumption is made that the wearer must be someone of prestige and status. Any person who has a sense of style, male or female, will already know that by wearing them, especially in particular engraved ones, will add a touch of elegance and class to their outfit.

If you are racking your brains for a unique gift idea, then check out the choice of cufflinks for men and women. Personalize them with a message, date or photograph and you have the perfect gift.

How to start – scrapbooking

A strong desire to preserve and remember your past, enrich your present and inspire hope for future generations will motivate you to start scrapbooking. Telling your unique story with photos and words long after even you have forgotten them.

The first step to starting a scrapbook is to get your boxes of photos out to organize them. This can be a most daunting task, especially if you have never sorted your photos and you have boxes and boxes of photos in your closet or under your bed, waiting to be put into albums. A task that you never got round to, and now you have so many photos that it seems such a huge and time consuming job. Get your photos out and start to separate and collate them roughly into a chronological order of events. Put these piles of photos in order into a safe storage box still keeping them in their order. Use smaller boxes or envelopes to keep your sorted photos separated.

Step two. Decide on a project to start with. You may want to start with a special event for example: a 21st birthday, Grand dad?s 70th birthday, Christmas events over the years. Take the photos for this occasion out of the storage box. Using spare blank papers about the size of your scrapbook and lay out your photos on these papers in a way that appeals to you. Rearrange your photos on the spare pages until you are happy with the potential layout. Remember this is YOUR story so there is no right or wrong way. Keeping your photos on the pages, pile the pages in the order you have arranged them starting with page one on the top. Store these so that they are close at hand when you have a few minutes to work on your project.

Now you are ready to start your scrapbook. Take you first page and look carefully at the photos, discard blurry photos if possible. Crop (cut) your photos to emphasize or accent particular features in the photo, it may be cropping to get rid of excess background. There are plenty of various cropping tools and cutters available on the market to simplify this task. You are now ready to place your photos permanently on your album page. You can first mount your photo onto coloured photo-safe card or paper to enhance your page and then onto the actual scrapbook page. Next thing to do is to add a story box. This to tell anyone who is looking at the scrapbook the story behind the photos. Express your feelings and use plenty of descriptive words to give life to your photo.

Last thing to do is embellish (decorate) the page with shapes or photo-safe stickers. Don’t overdo this aspect as often time less is more. Place your page into a page protector so that pages and photos don’t rub against each other thus protecting your photos for the future. If you continue to work like this with just a few minutes a day you can accomplish and complete your scrapbook in no time at all. It is a most satisfying and inspiring feeling to complete an album to share with your family and friends.

Allah Loved Solomon and gave him many gifts:

Allah bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a worshiper! Truly he was a penitent soul, always returning Allah with glorification and remembrance at all times. He was ever turning in repentance (towards Allah) he is ever betaking himself to Allah and engaged in His obedience.

Surah (Chapter) 38:30

30] QARIB: we gave Solomon to David; and he was an excellent worshiper! He was penitent! Ever did he turn (to Allah)!

- – - – - – - – - – - –

Allah made Solomon to be a gentle judge and gave him judgment and knowledge

Surah (Chapter) 21:79

79] We made Solomon to understand it, and to both we gave judgment and knowledge. And with David we subjected the mountains and birds to exalt (Allah). All this Allah has done.

- – - – - – - – - – - –

Allah disposed, of the devils some that dived for him, plunging into the sea and bringing out of it jewels for Solomon, and performed tasks other than that, that is, other than diving, such as building and otherwise.

Surah (Chapter) 21:82

82] And of the evil ones, were some who dived for him, and did other work besides; and it was Allah who guarded them.

- – - – - – - – - – - –

Allah gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they both said, ‘Praise be to Allah who has favored us, with prophet hood over many of His believing worshipers’.

Allah gave Solomon understanding and judgeship through prophet hood. Also Allah taught him the speech of birds, ants, animals etc. In addition, Allah gave him a unique kingdom and disposed the jinn, humans and devils to his service.

Surah (Chapter) 27:15-16

15] We gave knowledge to David and Solomon

: And they both said: ‘praise be to Allah who has preferred us above many of his believing worshipers. ‘

16] And Solomon was David’s heir. He said: ‘know, my people, we have been taught the speech of birds and we have been bestowed of all things; most surely this is a manifest grace (this is indeed grace manifest from Allah”).

- – - – - – - – - – - –

Allah said to him: ‘This is our sovereignty. O Solomon. We made you a sovereign over the devils, (so bestow thou) favor whom you will among the rebellious and relieve them from their chains, (or withhold) or keep them chained, (without reckoning) without taking anyone to task or incur a sin as a result. In other words, without your being called to account for any of this. And indeed he has a position of nearness with Allah and a fair resort; a beautiful place of (final) return

Surah (Chapter) 38:39-40

39] ‘This is our gift, therefore give freely or withhold without reckoning. ‘

40] and he enjoyed, indeed, a near approach to us (a place near to Allah), and a beautiful place of (final) return

The Quran announces the innocence of King Solomon and states clearly that he did not disbelieve and was ever at the top of the rank of believers being one of the great prophets!

Surah (Chapter) 2:102

102] ….. Solomon did not disbelieve, it is the devils who disbelieved, teaching people magic …….

The Quran announces the innocence of King Solomon and states clearly that he did not disbelieve and was ever at the top of the rank of believers being one of the great prophets!

On the other hand, the Bible says that Solomon 1) was IDOLATER! And he burned incense and sacrificed to gods of his 1000 women! ,2) did not totally abandon his worship of God, 3) his heart was not fully devoted to his God, and 4) he did not repent after the Lord confronted him.

For more details, Read my article “Not in Bible but in Quran (19); was King Solomon Atheist?”

=========

It is amazing that the Quran is very much grateful for King Solomon and states clearly that he did not disbelieve and was ever at the top of the rank of believers being one of the great prophets! In addition, the Quran mentions that Allah Loved Solomon and gave him many gifts and unique properties like his many languages, his Companions, and his authority over the devils etc.; and Solomon has a position of nearness with Allah and a fair resort; a beautiful place of (final) return.

All of these facts are not found in the Bible. On the other hand, the Bible states that King Solomon was an IDOLATER!

=========

Back to the main issue of my series of articles; this is my question to you smart readers: “Is the Quran quoted from the Bible?”

By the way, the disbelieved ignorant Arabs stated that the Quran quoted from the Bible more than 1400 years ago! (Read my article about chapter 25).
