Underage drinking, my thoughts.?
Listen, basically im 15 years old believe it or not. Dont gimme any crap of “bla bla you have to be more mature etc”. These are my views
Im brazilian, just left there to come live in the US, im a sophmore now school is starting in September. What i found out to be quite shocking are the amount of laws here such as curfew, 21 year old drinking age, and 16 year old in some states driving. Now think about it, i come from Brazil where the drinking age is 18 but everyone in my grade has drank or drinks when they go to parties and/or clubs. I think honestly that the amount of non-strict alcohol dealing is so much greater than the laws in the US. Seriously, think about it. Some people die when they turn 21 of anxiety of being finally able to drink. Imagine holding all that pressure, media, etc in.
Really, people in college go insane over that. I feel as if my eyes have been much more open to the world at this younger age, and the fact i have already experimented makes me not as desperat

I’m 16, and just about everyone i know has been drunk.. and the others that haven’t don’t want too. .so idk what your talking about..

Right, I agree. I wasn’t born in the U.S. either.
it doesn’t make sense that you can party at 18, yet you can’t drink until you’re 21.
In many countries, such as Brazil people drink at young ages. Where I’m from, you’re allowed to drink once you’re born! No lie! You’re even allowed to drink and drive. Now i find that a bit bizzare myself, but yes, U.S. laws are very interesting.
About people dying because of the anticipation to drink is a big exagerated, i think. But anyway.
It does make you go a little crazy, and make you over-do things like drink wildly at partys when you’re fifteen at a friend’s house party, instead of if the law was drinking at fifteen, alcohol would be like soda, and you won’t really summon for that buzz to get under the influence.
So, yes i agree with you. But sometimes I do agree with the law a tad, because some people just don’t know how to ‘drink responsibly’ no matter the age.

I am not sure that it is true that some people have died from anxiety when they are legally able to drink. I don’t see that happen often at all and I’m 24.
I think that underage people experiment more than you might think. I had my first drink at 16 and by the time I got to be 21 it was no big deal to me because I had already drank enough before.
I think that it is a fine line for young people to drink – some very bad things can occur due to lack of experience and lack of a certain level of maturity when underage people drink (mainly I mean young highschoolers). However, as in my case, they might handle it responsibly and have a healthier outlook on alcohol than if they waited until they were legal.
I think it depends on the person.

What I find to be quite shocking is that you come to the GREAT USA and then complain about these things you don’t like and on top of it these things you are talking about are a REAL problem here and kill MANY young people every year, sadly.

I am not gonna say how old I am but I’m under 15 and I’ve drank many times. I’ve also drove many times and guess what I’m still alive! My friends call me a weirdo and think I’m gonna be an alcoholic someday, but that’s because they are paranoid christians. But I must say there are some terrible things that happen because of alcohol…you just gotta bea little careful and have a little luck and you’ll be fine!

i agree with you 100%. i mean, i know teenagers drink and drive…and therefore kill, but so do adults!! if the the US is built on freedom, drugs and alcohol shouldn’t be excluded. i’m 17 and i have tried cigarettes before…no big deal. i think drinking is gross–totally not for me, but i have no problem with other people drinking or getting high or anything!! if it makes them happy, why not let them do it??? it’s hard to find what truely makes you happy in life and with all of these curfews and laws and regulations, we’re restricted to explore and experiment the world for ourselves. but, if you really want to the get the world out, take it to the government—or screw government and be an anarchist.

I’m not quite sure what the question is, but i’ll give you my opinion. I think that drinking laws are pointless, as are many other laws, but as you said about drinking ill stick to that. If teenagers want alcohol, all they need to do is find some adult who will agree to buy it for them, its so easy its pathetic to get alcohol. if i really felt like it i could just go to some of the people in my class and have their parents buy me some alcohol. at my one friends graduation party, her parnets came home and asked us what kind of alcohol we wanted them to get us! all of these laws are pointless, that is one reaosn i hate america so much, is because they spend so much time enforcing and making up the stupidest laws, when they should be worried about more important things. welcome to the US, it sucks!

Where I live, the drinking age is 18. Where I lived before, it was 19. I think 18/19 is a good drinking age. 21 sounds absolutely ridiculous.
Underage drink. Do it. It’s not as exciting as it sounds, but it is something that everyone does, so do it.

Laws are in place for a reason…you will understand that when you grow up and become an adult.
Statistics show (and many are gathered from countries with legal drinking ages below 21) that teens who begin to drink alcohol between 13 and 18 (you know…teens) are 70% more likely to continue to abuse alcohol and then get into other drugs AND of those same 70%, more than half will become full blown alcoholics by the time they are 35. I would say that even if you think the laws are stupid, might want to reconsider your points and also be grateful for freedoms that you do have in the USA. We tend to like it when people who immigrate here are actually grateful for being here.
